Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2012 is a hypervisor-based server virtualization product for administrators to consolidate workloads and multiple operating systems while helping enterprise improve the efficiency of server utilization as well as reducing costs. Besides hypervisor, this dedicated standalone product also contains few other feature including Windows Server driver model, virtualization capabilities, and supporting components such as failover clustering. As it does not contain robust set of features as Windows Server operating system and produces small footprint, it’s gaining much more attention from organizations consolidating servers running an alternative OS or no new Windows licenses are needed.
